I’m in Boston this week for work (first time here!) One of the things I really wanted to do while I was here was try a real New England Lobster Roll. I headed to Union Oyster House to try their take on it. I know, I know – it’s a touristy spot, but it is on my way back to my hotel from my office, so it was convenient, and I mean, I am a tourist — I wanted to see “America’s Oldest Restaurant” for myself!

“The Union Oyster House, located on the Freedom Trail, near Faneuil Hall, enjoys the unique distinction of being America’s oldest restaurant. This Boston fixture, housed in a building dating back to Pre-Revolutionary days, started serving food in 1826 and has continued ever since with the stalls and oyster bar in their original positions.”
So, I get to the restaurant and I know what food I want… but, what wine do I pair with it?
Because lobster rolls are rich and creamy, I went with a crisp, dry Sauvignon Blanc. The clean, acidic flavor of this white wine complemented the decadence of the dish and allowed the fresh sweet lobster meat to shine.

Do you agree with my choice? What would you pair with a delicious lobster roll like this one?
Cheers!

A true classic! What a great recommendation for a wine pairing. Thanks for sharing.
